Humans have built-in neural circuits to sense the emotions of others.
When I am under stress or overwhelmed by the fast pace of life, it can mask my ability to sense emotions (mine or others.)
When I detach from the drama of emotions and thoughts, I can slow down my mind enough to deeply connect with others’ feelings. Mindfulness is a powerful tool that can help me with that. Can I be vulnerable to feeling others’ emotions? Can I react to others’ emotions with loving care?
Others might be reacting from their hurt or handicap, and I may not be aware. When I gain this self-awareness, it can open up space to hold it all with love and compassion.
With each inhale when I breathe, I infuse love and care into the vulnerabilities and accept them with a warm & welcoming heart. With each exhale, I exhume or disperse them in the open space.
Tara Brach: As we awaken our hearts, our lives increasingly become an expression of love. It answers our deepest longing and is a gift to our precious, hurting world. Loving allows us to join hands and face the existential challenges of our times. Loving enables us to see past all conditioning to our basic human goodness that shines through all life forms.
